Russian Hill

Quintessential San Francisco

Russian Hill means fantastic bay views, classic SF architecture and mouth-watering gourmet cuisine.  We’ll begin our tour at the hill’s peak on Macondray Lane, the inspiration for Armistead Maupin’s iconic Tales of the City.  From there we will stroll past Hyde Street’s cable cars to Polk Street, once the happening center of the city’s gay community.

We will introduce you to grocers, sandwich makers, pizzaiolos, bakers and a gelato maker who call this neighborhood home.  You will depart well satiated, full of insider recommendations for your return visit to this quintessential San Francisco neighborhood.

Why Gourmet Walks?

Our Difference

“This ended up being a private tour, because my friend and I were the only participants, and that made it even more fun. Since there were going to be 7 stops, we figured we'd just get a little nibble at each one. Nope. We had full-size tastes at each stop, and we were stuffed by the end. Marie was a fantastic guide - knowledgeable and personable. She even brought bags so we could take leftovers home.”

“We are long time owners of a fractional condo at Ghirardelli Square and come to San Francisco often. This was clearly one of the best foodie tours we have ever done. And it was new territory for us even though close to Ghirardelli Square. We can’t wait for our next visit which will include a meal in this new area to us We will also keep our eyes peeled for more tours offered by Gourmet Walks”
